‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ was recorded all over California, especially in San Diego and Los Angeles County. The main photography began on July 7, 2003, and ended in September of that year. Thomas E.
Ackerman, the cinematographer for ‘Superhero Movie’ and ‘George of the Jungle,’ has joined the production as a film director. At the same time, Clayton Hartley, the production designer of ‘Don’t Look Up’ and ‘Almost Famous,’ came on board as a production designer.
San Diego
‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ is set in San Diego, and the cast and crew had to go there to record some scenes. The second most populous city in California, it shows a healthy cultural mix. The production took place at Balboa Park, a large urban cultural park located at 1549 El Prado.
The producers’ team also drew the western part of the city in some of the scenes. San Diego has been a popular recording studio since the early days of cinema, as shown in ‘Citizen Kane.’

The San Diego Zoo was re-created at the Old Los Angeles Zoo (also known as the Griffith Park Zoo or Old Zoo), located at 4801 Griffith Park Drive. In the movie, Veronica eats at a restaurant called Escupimos en su Alimento. The word stands for “spill your food” in Spanish. The Easter egg of the bonkers is set aside; needless to say, the restaurant is a myth.

Instead, the scenes were filmed at Dresden Room Restaurant, a restaurant located at 1760 North Vermont Avenue in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. A vicious war series was filmed on Matthew Street in East 4th Place, just below the western boundary of 4th Street Bridge, east of downtown Los Angeles. In another incident, the main character is insulted by his old friends on West 6th Street, between South Mesa and South Center Streets, in the San Pedro area of the City of Angels.
Ron’s chopper sits in front of the Esquire Hotel named in the opening sequence. However, scenes were fitted with a lens in front of the cylindrical International Tower, located at 700 East Ocean Boulevard in the Long Beach community. From ‘Lethal Weapon’ to ‘Gone In 60 Seconds,’ many movies feature the iconic tower. Other scenes of the Esquire Hotel are lensed at Long Beach Towers Apartments, a high-rise residence located at 600 East Ocean Boulevard.

In the next series, the news team clashes with its rivals on Channel 9. This episode is filmed in Shoreline Aquatic Park, a fun community park in the Long Beach municipality. Recording continued on Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach. Ron’s encounter with an angry cyclist should take place at the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. The series was replaced by Queensway Bridge, a 1600-meter-long Girder bridge south of Long Beach.

However, an important part of the film was lensed in Glendale, a town in San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.
