The group filmed the scenes in Sloatsburg, a town located in the town of Ramapo in Rockland County. It was a major breakthrough in the recording process. Filmmaking resumed in Garnerville, formerly known as Calicotown. The location in downtown Haverstraw, Rockland County, represents a few scenes, a highlight of Sparky’s Diner. Located at 129 Ramapo Road, a cheap restaurant attracts local crowds with its culinary masterpieces and a simple menu. Another place where workers set up the shoot was Haverstraw Cemetery. A heated argument between Ben and Dolly took place here.
The actors and crew spent some time in the Hudson Valley region. The story begins when 19-year-old Ben Burns returns to his home in Yonkers, NY, at Christmas time. The production unit saw several outdoor scenes near Lake Avenue and Nepperhan Avenue, Central Park Avenue, and Mildred Street.
