The Essex Serpent Season 1 Episode 4, Luke’s hypnosis reveals amazing details about Jo’s connection with the mythical serpent. According to Jo, she and Naomi engaged in a form of temptation that drew the serpent to Aldwinter and killed its inhabitants.

The Essex Serpent Season 1 Episode 3, ‘Falling,’ opens with a group of fishermen fishing near the Blackwater marshes. However, one of the fishermen is attacked by a mysterious presence that some belief is the Essex Snake. The men were terrified and barely escaped. Elsewhere, Cora wakes up at her house in Aldwinter and discusses the school situation with Martha. Frankie goes out for a walk in the area and meets a farmer who is teaching a little boy to milk a goat.
After Cora has invited Luke to check on Aldwinter, the doctor arrives in the village. Cora explains what happened to the girls at school. Luke points out that severe depression can be caused by children being exposed to certain chemicals.
The two tried to check the school but denied Matthew, who blamed Cora for the children’s situation. Meanwhile, at Ransome, Will and Stella are worried as Jo is no longer speaking after an incident at school.

Near the sea, Cora finds a large snake-like skull. These findings raise her suspicions about the existence of a mythical beast.
