Crush follows one of the most common types of new comedy: Unwanted Love. Only in this case, the key characters are the giants, which is a refreshing change. Directed by Sammi Cohen in the screenplay of Kirsten King and Casey Rackham, Crush is a fantastic youth game that plays so safely that she can reach her full potential.

Crush (2022): Movie Review
The story follows Paige (Rowan Blanchard), a brilliant young artist who really wants to study for a prestigious art school after graduating from high school. A request that gives him a moment begs him to remember her happiest time. Sadly, Paige can’t come up with one. She hopes that Gabby (Isabella Ferreira) will be the one to give her a moment of real happiness as she has been oppressing Gabby for years.
As she thinks about her future, an opportunity arises to join the track team to get closer to Gabby. However, like all good teen love, things do not always go as planned. Paige develops feelings for someone else, and Gabby’s other sister is AJ (Auli’i Cravalho).
The movie has a little text full of quips and sass, but a few characters. All of this is good and good if the goal is to make Crush a fun and exciting journey. Great attention went to the popularity of the movie instead of the actors. From the characters’ costumes to the cinematography, the film seeks a level of luxury and style that many young comedians fail to have.
Paired with loving characters, every feeling, and tone of Crush is fun. However, it would be better if the movie did not play in a safe way and was pushed for its characters to be more than they are.
Blanchard is as charming as Paige, a confident but scary girl with her artsy standing in the school community in the middle. She’s not an unpopular person and she’s not an “it” girl, which is refreshing to see because viewers rarely find clues that don’t suffer from some of the ever-changing social ills at school. Even more refreshing is to see her in an area where she is not the only lesbian in a 50-mile radius.
However, being as talented as Blanchard as a lead, she is not as bright as she should be. Cravalho, by comparison, is full of charisma and is tied to a character who is actively involved in the supporting role. There is information that leads to an intriguing inner life, but the audience does not find him great times until the third act. If so, the impersonation should have been reversed, as Cravalho has a materialistic attraction Blanchard does not reveal.
Crush is a good time and nothing more. The jokes quickly fade from memory and there is not much that the characters can say except that they are well-dressed. The characters are all drama and help to create the beauty of the film despite the fact that the text does them a little favor. There are a number of quips that will get you to laugh, but with blank writing, it’s hard to pinpoint anything else.
However, Crush is designed to be fun and entertaining that combines a queer collection and achieves that at least. More is to say about how these accounts fit into a series like Netflix’s Heartstopper and Hulu Love, Victor. Fortunately, Crush is not trash. It works well for what it intends to do and that is enough.
Crush is a lovable and creative feature movie that celebrates the fun and dorky adventure of teen lesbian romance. Fascinating, straightforward, and led by remarkable young talented actors, Crush will surely be a youthful love that gains fame over time.
