You Won’t Be Alone Movie Synopsis
In a remote village in the highlands of Macedonia in the 19th century, a woman cares for her infant child, whom she may have had after a long wait. Trembling she notices a cat entering her room, which then turns into a horrible old woman with a few strands of hair on her head and her skin completely burnt and cracked. My mother quickly realizes that her visitor is the dreaded Old Maid Maria, a witch who has been haunting the city for years.
For some reason, Maria has come to fetch the baby, the girl, to be her heir. The mother begs and pleads with the witch and gives her a solution — to let her raise her daughter until she is 16 years old, and then take her. Surprisingly, Maria agrees, knowing full well that man is invincible. Mom fixes her plan right away. She takes the child to the temple in caves that are said to be blessed by the gods where evil spirits cannot enter.
She leaves her daughter there for the next sixteen years, visiting her every day with food and essentials but never taking her out of the caves. The little girl, Nevena, grows up in a confined space with her quiet thoughts, as she has lost the ability to speak since Maria touched her. She expresses her desire to go out into the open world at times, but her mother does not agree at all. Sometimes after just sixteen years, the eagle flies into a cave and stays there; the mother realizes who it is and tries to kill him, but it doesn’t happen obviously.
The sound of cracking bones is heard behind the stone, and then the mother appears, but in a completely different way. They take Nevena out of the cave and go back to their house and beat the donkey and suck the blood out of it. It is clear that the woman is an Old Maid Maria, in the form of a mother’s body. She then performs a ritual on Nevena called “witch’s saliva,” which transforms Nevena into a witch, with nails that look the same as an extra finger on the palm of her hand, and the power the witch has.
Nevena, however, does not understand much, as she is still trying to explore and understand the world. As a young girl, she finds beauty and compassion in nature, bright, and rabbits, which infuriates Maria, and she leaves Nevena, leaving her. Nevena is still confused, contemplating the world, until one day she wanders off the village, seeing a woman giving birth.
You Won’t Be Alone Movie Ending,
Nevena grows up to be a young woman like Bilina, and she crazily loves her childhood sweetheart, Jovan. The man is just as quiet as Nevena, and the two find great peace and happiness in each other. They got married, despite Maria again warning Nevena that her boyfriend would eventually betray her and burn her alive. Nevena continues to believe in her love and finally pays there one day, in a moment of extreme intimacy, revealing her true identity to her husband.
Jovan is really surprised by his wife’s unusual hands and ugly nails, but he loves her for who she is inside, and her outward appearance doesn’t matter to him at all. The couple continues to live happily ever after, and Nevena is pregnant with their child. One day, however, she sees a large pig in his yard with blood on his horns and finds Jovan stabbed to death by the animal, the secret Old Maid Maria.
She spends her days in grief and has a baby, which is the only reminder of her lover. She always holds her daughter close to her, afraid that Maria will pick her up, and she does not let anyone touch her. This is exactly what happened one winter afternoon when Maria appeared to be in her true condition and cleared her baby’s throat.
Nevena wishes to save her daughter by any means and performs the same ritual that gives immortality to the witches to her. The baby’s sores quickly heal, and she has recovered, but she has become a witch, with black claws on her baby’s hands and feet.
Eventually, Maria’s jealousy and deep social frustration made her act this way. Tears well up in Nevena’s eyes as she learns how and why they are so young while Maria is still plagued by memories of being burned alive. Nevena stabs an old witch with her nails in response to her release. She then put her daughter in her arms and remembered all the human situations she had taken, perhaps remembering that it was not an easy life, yet she managed to be a compassionate human mother.
Nevena follows a group of women to her village and arrives at the house of a woman who has just given birth. Her mind is full of curiosity, and she sneaks into the house and finds the baby lying alone in the barn. Nevena stared at the baby with interest as her mother ran to the scene and pulled the witch.
Since Nevena does not seem to stand out from the crowd except in her superhuman hands, the mother does not recognize her identity and strikes her sharp nails, killing them accidentally. Nevena is shocked, and then automatically does what she saw Maria doing she pulls out her mother’s heart and pushes it into her chest, making her the baby’s mother, Bosilka. The fluctuations are evident in Bosilka’s family, as the woman suddenly stopped talking and acted in a very strange way, but they do not realize that she is a witch in disguise.
In Bosilka’s way, Nevena gradually learns the deception of men against women in society, as she is often beaten by her husband and in other minor cases, such as getting food only after the men in the house have eaten. It is Bosilka’s mother-in-law who gives her the only support, as she tries to get her daughter-in-law back to normal by teaching her household chores and taking her to rural women’s gatherings.
One night, her husband tries to force himself into bed, and Nevena, unaware of the incident, stabs him to death. She flees the village and restores her true self, and begins to understand the attraction of men to women. “You Won’t Be Alone.”
