Gaslit Season 1 Episode 2: Recap
Gaslit Season 1 Episode 2 begins as Martha prepares for one of the fundraisers. At the same time in Washington, Frank Wills (Patrick Walker) gets a job as a security guard at the Watergate facility. After making the call, he came across G. Gordon Liddy (Shea Whigham). No man realizes the role that another will play in shaping their future. A team of burglars set up camp across Virginia Avenue from a complex, in Howard Johnson’s branch.
Howard Hunt (J.C. Mackenzie), the team leader, and Liddy appear for the first time, and you can tell why they both get along so well. They are both parts of the Conservative movement and seem to think it is their God-given responsibility to ensure that Nixon remains President of the United States.
In California, John and Martha spoke with Michael Deaver, an aide to Ronald Reagan, the Governor of California at the time. Therefore, gaining his support for Nixon’s re-election campaign is crucial. John and Martha show how good they are as a team as they use their best qualities – his shallow beauty and his brutal personality – to ensure Reagan’s support for Nixon.
On the first night of his new career, Willis finally made history. For better or worse, this night will mean the end of his life. He finds the tapes attached to the corner of the parking door. He just removes the tapes for the first time and ignores them. However, after the second, he finds them in the same area and then on the sixth floor, sees that something is wrong, and calls the police.
Chief John Barrett, Sergeant Paul Leeper, and Chief Carl Shoffler appear. As bad as they were when they got the call, all three looked like hippies. Al Baldwin, appointed by Hunt and Liddy, is spotted entering the area but ignores them. However, when the hippies go upstairs with their robbers and pull out their guns, Baldwin begins to shout, “Mayday.” He, Howard, and Liddy packed up and ran away as other officers arrived at the building. Meanwhile, the thieves volunteered.
