The end of season 1 of Tokyo Vice concludes the first part of a series of truth-inspired story series developed by J.T. Rogers, based on the history of journalist Jake Adelstein. Adelstein was a journalist in Tokyo during the 90s and early 2000s who wrote about crime in the bustling city and eventually joined the Japanese mafia gang, also known as the Yakuza.
Adelstein formed bonds with the local police and resources, eventually acquiring information that would bring him death threats and open up the underground space to very few well-known survivors.
The show plays Ansel Elgort (Child Driver) as Adelstein, with supporting characters including Rachel Keller, Ken Watanabe, Ella Rumpf, Shô Kasamatsu, Shun Sugata, Rinko Kikuchi, Hideaki Itô, and Ayumi Tanida.
Although Tokyo Vice is based on Adelstein’s history, the exhibition is still regarded as a work of myth, as it is not a direct translation of the book, but a loose translation set in the real world of Tokyo. The game is fully recorded in the area with a strong founding team to survive, including director Michael Mann, who was in charge of the pilot episode.
Tokyo Vice Season 1 Ending, Explained: Can Jake Rebuild His Coalition With Detective Katagiri?
Throughout the conclusion, Adelstein appears to be trying to contact Katatiri of Watanabe within a month after his infidelity about the drug delivery tip, but the detective ignores all calls. For all his good intentions, Adelstein cannot go beyond his desire to succeed and eventually learn one of the most important lessons of his young career; do not burn contacts.
Adelstein blames Sato for the alleged trip but fails to address the fact that it was his arrogance and impatience that ruined his contact with the police (not to mention that Myamoto stopped him). After being beaten and threatened by Tozawa’s men and receiving the tape of Polina’s murder, Adelstein comes to realize that he needs to let go of his pride and make another attempt to win Katagiri’s trust again.
Katagiri, who is now facing his own problems after Tozawa threatened his family’s lives and warned him not to leave, is now in a situation where he will need help to rebuild his case. With the poles now so high, his family is in danger and desperately in need of partners, it seems that Adelstein and Katagiri will repair their fence, as they finally need each other’s help, not just to commit a crime against Tozawa but to find redemption for their failures.
Did Tozawa Have Detective Miyamoto Kill?
When Katagiri found out that Miyamoto was Tozawa’s inner man, the two worked together to stop Tozawa, but all went awry when their plan was revealed to have been discovered by Tozawa, who founded Katagiri to eventually meet him at the warehouse. when meth transmission had to occur. When Katagiri is unable to contact Miyamoto, as scheduled, he goes inside to find Tozawa waiting for him.
Tozawa threatens Katagiri’s family and says Miyamoto “is in a place where his conscience will no longer be a problem for him” or “liability” to Tozawa. The Yakuza boss says he does not want to make the two detectives disappear overnight, suggesting Miyamoto is dead, but this could also mean he has been trapped somewhere or threatened enough to disappear alone and never return.
It is unlikely that Tozawa and Miyamoto will work together at this time, as a way to deceive Katagiri, as there is no way for Miyamoto to return to the army after this. In any case, the policeman is missing or dead, making the whole of Katagiri even more difficult.
What happened to Polina?
Polina is a great friend of Samantha and a supporter of Tokyo Vice, a former Tokyo Vice-based teammate who also works for the same club. She is also a good friend of the other owner of the group, Akira, who behaves like a boyfriend, but uses him in every way possible. Apparently, he didn’t care about him, especially when Samantha came looking for him after she disappeared, finally finding out that Polina was running for Akira’s club and couldn’t pay.
This led to the disappearance of the Tozawa instigators of the party. Polina, it turns out, was taken on a “sex voyage” called the Yoshino, where she intended to close her business debt “by providing” wealthy Japanese businessmen with a ship. Adelstein finds this later in the episode when is left with a vague tape in his home.
The cassette shows Polina accidentally killed in the cabin of a ship by one of the family members while fighting with a corrupt customer. Ultimately, what the incident reveals is a feature of human trafficking in Tozawa’s dealings, which is a sad fact and a way to re-create the criminal case against him now that Adelstein and Katagiri have the tape.
Who gave Adelstein the tape (and why) is still a mystery, but for now, it seems that Polina’s death replaces Lucie Blackman’s real death in the Tokyo Vice book, although the circumstances of their deaths are significantly different.
Is Samantha Loses Everything?
After Polina’s mysterious disappearance, Samantha tries to follow him, finally getting Adelstein to help her. In the investigation, Samantha was deceived by Polina’s boyfriend, Akira, who tricked her of all the money had saved to buy her team when he told her that Polina had been kidnapped and could only be saved by ransom.
With no money left and the club almost finished, Samantha takes drastic measures and goes to Yakuza, especially Chihara-kai. Samantha meets Ishida, the founder of her boyfriend Sato’s family, and makes a good decision to cooperate with her to open her own club. Sato warns Ishida about it, mainly because they want to protect him, but instead Ishida puts him in charge of his club.
Sato warns Samantha about what she did and replies that she knew about the accident. The danger, of course, is that she is now in bed with the Yakuza family, which, like any major criminal organization, could mean life or death, whether his party is defeated or successful. In the end, Samantha chose the method “if you can beat them, join ’em”, giving her the benefits of their protection, but only as long as she provided them with money.
Sato is well aware of how his organization will benefit from him, as Ishida has already told him what they will do if it succeeds, and he is sad that he will have to force their will on him, who may have seen fit to end his fears. in love, as their relationship is tested several times during the season, especially by the Yakuza.
