In addition, to achieve the look of the film, the production team hired real firefighters, snipers, SWAT teams, and traumatized surgeons to shoot. More than 50 Los Angeles Police Department officers came to work as extras.
Staff borrowed six ambulances from the Nordic-based Falck organization, three of which were used to capture internal scenes. One was accompanied by a recording team inside, and the other was placed on the sound stage. There was another ambulance, which could be separated if necessary.
The chronology of the chase was not recorded at first, but Michael Bay included it when he had the opportunity to use two helicopters.
