Directed by Ti West, the horror film ‘X‘ reveals a charm of a different era. The story is set in the late 1970s, as it tells the story of a group of budding actors on the way to making their first adult productions. They found a baseless home in rural Texas, seemingly hidden enough to escape. However, abused homeowners are caught in a provocative act, causing trouble for the workers.
Next, we know, team members fled for their lives. The dark, dreamy, and offensive film shines through in the production design department, while the flexibility between the characters adds a complete shocking power to the compilation. Most of the story takes place in a two-story house in black Texas idyll, but you may want to check out the places where the movie was filmed.
Where Was X Movie Filmed?
The ‘X’ was recorded in the US and around New Zealand. Although the story is set in rural Texas, the production team seems to have found greener pastures in New Zealand. Thanks to its lush green mountains, extensive beaches, and spectacular scenery, New Zealand has been recognized as one of the world’s most desirable recording studios.
In addition, live recordings in the country are also eligible for a 20 percent tax exemption at the appropriate cost. Eliot Rockett, who previously worked with Ti West in ‘The House of the Devil,’ worked as a film director for the film.
New Zealand
Most of the film was shot in New Zealand and surrounding areas. On their way, the workers visited the township of Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty Region in the North Island of New Zealand. A team of producers circled the city at length, capturing many sequences in a few places.
The township – close to its lake – is a popular tourist destination due to its geothermal activity. The 30-foot-tall Pohutu Geyser explodes several times a day. In addition, the township also features highlights of Maori culture.

A team of producers also visited South Island to capture a few sequences. They head to Queenstown, a coastal township in the Otago region of the South Island, with a spectacular view of the Southern Alps. Located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the township is a popular tourist destination, full of resorts and adventure games.
In addition, you can get out of the municipality to visit local vineyards and villages with a mining history. Scenes were also filmed on the outskirts of the city, in and around Beechwood Valley.

In the process of filming, the crew also visited Whanganui, a town and district on the banks of the namesake river on the west coast of North Island. The river is the world’s most accessible waterway, and there is a thriving art gallery that keeps the city alive.
While living in the area, a team of producers filmed scenes in an area close to the rural Fordell community in the same region. The location may represent the house where the filmmakers lived in the movie. The filming took place at the Cobham Bridge across the Whanganui River, which connects Portugal with Gonville.

Staff also visited the Bulls rural community, where they filmed several series near the Bulls Airstrip. One memorable scene captures the Ohakea War Memorial, a square obelisk monument located at the school southwest of the RNZAF Base Ohakea. More sequences were filmed in the nearby War Memorial Hall.

The cast and crew also visited Wellington, the country’s capital city in the southern part of the North Island. As a national administrative center, the city is organized as it looks good. Wooden dormitories on the surrounding hills attract visitors, and sandy beaches are ideal for bathing and water sports activities.
United States
It is believed that more recording took place in the US, where the story is set. After completing the recording work in New Zealand, the actors and crew returned to the US, where they likely filmed more scenes and re-shot.

With well-respected movie theaters in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and other parts of the country, the US is widely regarded as a cinematic mecca. In addition, regional governments provide additional benefits, such as tax compensation and legal support to accommodate filmmakers from around the world.
