The Luds are back at work, and Ingrid takes her fascination with Nathan to a whole new level as our hero tries his best to make things right with Nora. Now, know about Upload Season 2.
Upload Season 2: Synopsis
Upload Season 2 opens with Nora and her father, Dave, fleeing into the woods and joining the Ludds, an anti-tech group determined to end capitalism in the post-mortem industry. Under the influence of the Reverend Rob, who thinks that all Uploading is disgusting, the Luds are attacking companies that offer fantastic solutions to the deaths of the rich.
Nora becomes a hesitant social participant and helps them reduce the storage space used by the rich uber-rich to keep their bodies. However, as the catastrophic test “Download” has proven, it is still difficult to transfer human consciousness from the realm of the dead to the body.
At that point, Ingrid becomes Load and rescues Nathan in the 2 Gig category, where he relegates himself at the end of Upload Season 1. The relationship is even harder than before, and Ingrid is now determined to have a “digital baby.” However, it was later revealed that she was using a Hug Suit and pretending to be a Load, which explains why she always split up. While at Lakeview, it is also a secret that’s she helped her father, Oliver Kannerman, kill Nathan after the latter sold his code to the father.
Things take a turn for the worse in the idyllic afterlife model after the Ludds successfully attacked the facility, prompting the company to introduce new strong measures. The program takes another exciting swipe of capitalist greed as the Horizen then begins to scan the thoughts and dreams of Lakeview residents under the door of security measures. Well, the amazing soul-less afterlife company is also starting to sell the dreams of its citizens, with some of the most sexually promiscuous coming to “Dreamhub.”
Upload Season 2: Ending,
The end of Upload Season 2 is an amazing series of building twists. Ingrid, hoping to convince Nathan to have a real baby with her, reveals that she is reproducing her body in the hope that Downloading will one day succeed. She also revealed that she had been using a Hug Suit all this time to do the Upload, which is when Nathan finally broke up with her. He then ran to try to stop the new Freeyond service, which promised to be a post-mortem service for the poor but was actually part of a larger national election campaign.
Nora enlists the help of Ludds to try to stop the Freeyond, which requires Nathan Alande in the body that Ingrid has been growing. After a short pause, Nathan’s awareness moves smoothly through his body. Ingrid, furious over the failure of her plan, returns home and pulls out her hair from Nathan’s old brush, promising to take her own. At that point, Nora and Nathan finally found time alone on the train back to New York. As the season drew to a close, however, Nathan noticed that his nose was beginning to bleed.
So, Upload Season 2 closes on an ominous note, with the character’s head that may be seconded to explode. To date, all previous Download attempts have resulted in severe headaches, either human or bird (yes, which is why the dove’s head suddenly explodes). So, one of the most entertaining scenes of the show – that of Nathan and Nora finally having a romantic time together – may end with a recent wake-up call to the sound of the front bang.
As awful as it sounds, considering the previous tests, there is a good chance that Nathan, or at least his current body, will die. However, the show is not dark enough to brutally kill the character, so there may be a few ways Nathan can be saved. First, the technology used to fetch her from her body was discovered in the Gray Zone (apparently gray market). Thus, there may be a mistake in the system that can prevent Nathan’s head from exploding.
The most important details about Nathan’s fate, however, maybe in the Horizen offices in New York, where the air temperature, Tinsley, recently discovered that our hero is not in Lakeview. On the advice of a senior employee (and to avoid dismissal), Tinsley has begun to secretly develop a backup version of Nathan within Lakeview. Not too long ago from a potentially catastrophic download, a restored backup version will have almost all of Nathan’s memories up to that point.
So, even if the current Nathan dies (which is very likely, and it would not be the first time we see the protagonist’s head explode), another version will be available at Lakeview, waiting to take his place. While we do not know how this will affect his memories or what Nora’s feelings about the restored version will be, at least we can be sure that this is not Nathan’s fate.
To put it simply, no – Nathan and Nora are far from establishing Freeyond. This is very surprising as the former mother, Viv, plans to download herself to a new free afterlife service. The last ones we see, Nathan, Nora, and Ludd, are on their way to the Freeyond office, where they plan to use Nathan’s retina as a password to break the service code (written by Nathan). However, the plan could be horribly postponed if Nathan’s head explodes, as it seems to have been strongly noted in the off-season.
Of course, there is a chance that Nathan is not dead, or (not very drunk, but) the team is able to rescue an eyeball and use it to get into Freeyond. There are other ways Nathan can help stop Freeyond even if his head explodes.
The most obvious step would be to have his version (backup) transferred from Lakeview to Freeyond and try to disrupt or repair the system from the inside (and possibly save his mother). However, by the end of Upload Season 2, Nathan and Nora are aware of Freeyond’s vicious plans and are not close to setting up a company in an election that could change by loading large sections of very wealthy people.
Ingrid is last seen pulling hair out of Nathan’s old brush, and she obviously means using her DNA. She may be planning to use it to make another partner for Nathan as she has made it clear that she will not do anything to have her ex-boyfriend who is hesitant in her life.
However, Ingrid may also plan to use Nathan’s DNA to fulfill her dream of having a baby with him. As the digital doctor once said, if Nathan’s DNA is part of a child, you have financial responsibility for it. Therefore, applying DNA to her hair could be one of Ingrid’s plans to control her ex-boyfriend.
It is interesting to note that, unknowingly, Ingrid may have saved Nathan’s life. Seasonal closing Upload Season 2 leaves us with many questions but also some clever tricks. When Nathan’s head explodes, all the pieces of healing are in place. While Tinsley, the Horizen temp, was making a backup version of Nathan’s awareness, Ingrid easily opened up a way to re-create her physical body. Therefore, as our hero faces possible death, both his mind and his body are already in the stages of reincarnation. “Upload Season 2.”
