The Weekend Away ’is a mysterious movie directed by Kim Farrant. The script is written by Sarah Alderson, author of the film’s title book. In the movie, two great friends – Beth and Kate – took a break to take a trip to Croatia. However, things get darker when Kate is found dead, and Beth becomes the main suspect in the alleged murder.

‘The Weekend Away was recorded in Croatia, mainly in the cities of Split, Dubrovnik, and Zagreb. It looks like Leighton Meester as Beth and Christina Wolfe as Kate – were shot in the summer of 2021.
Croatia
Split is an important city in Croatia and a major production base for this mysterious movie. An important part has been incorporated into the city center and surrounding areas as well as Diocletian’s Palace, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Some of you may have seen Peristil and the palace toilets. The first is the central square of the palace, and the cells are from the infamous ‘Game of Throne’s series. You can even see the Riva in a few squares, which is a busy sea voyage along with the Diocletian Palace.
A picture of Gregory of Nin is found in this film. It was originally built in Peristil, now located north of Diocletian’s Palace, just outside the Golden Gate. A few other places in the Split act as Netflix movie recording sites, such as Zenta Club, Saint Domnius Cathedral AKA Cathedral Svetog Duje, and Matejuška. The latter is a popular port and a popular social networking site. Apparently, the hotel where Beth and Kate live is located on a street called Trumbićeva Obala.
Dubrovnik is another movie destination. Church of St. Blaise or Crkva Sv. Blaža appears in several sequences. Built-in 1715, the Catholic Church exhibits its Baroque architecture. Fort Lovrijenac or St. Lawrence Fortress is another place to record this Netflix production.
The castle and theater are known as “Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar.” It even stands for The Red Keep ‘Game of Thrones.’ In fact, the location of the Old City of Dubrovnik is what we see as King’s Landing.
Franjo Tuđman Square in Zagreb appears one after the other as Beth boardes a taxi, and the driver asks her if this is her first time in the world. Zagreb is the capital and largest city in Croatia. Like Split, it has a rich history dating back to Roman times. “The Weekend Away.”
