‘Vikings: Valhalla’ is fully documented in the beautiful country of Ireland, especially in Wicklow County and Dublin. The main photography for season 1 started in October 2020 but was stopped for a few days due to the actors and the team being tested for Covid-19.
However, it was later determined that it was a fake alarm and the recording immediately resumed. According to reports, production may have taken a short break and finally resumed filming in May 2021. Recording season 1 was almost completed in November 2021.
Ireland
Vikings: Valhalla is carved primarily in Ashford, a beautiful town in Wicklow County. Large parts of season 1 were recorded at Ashford Studios, located in the Ballyhenry area. Some scenes are filmed near Lough Tay or Guinness Lake, the magnificent Wicklow Mountains, and the Poulaphouca Reservoir AKA Blessington Lakes in the western part of the region. In addition, actors and crew filmed at Powerscourt Waterfall on the Dargle River near the town of Enniskerry.
