“The Power of the Dog” took the lead among 12 featured films. The show’s producer, Jane Campion, made history by becoming the first woman to be nominated more than once to become a director. (His first nod was “The Piano.”)
Appointed director Steven Spielberg has also set a new record. As the producer of “West Side Story,” which won a total of seven nominations, Spielberg has now produced 11 films nominated as the best film, a new Oscars record.
Denzel Washington extended his current record as the best black actor, winning the tenth Oscar for his performance in “The Tragedy of Macbeth.” (One of his suggestions was to produce.)
The Academy Awards will be on Sunday, March 27. See below for the full Oscars Nominees List.
