‘Somebody Somewhere’ is a comedy TV series about Sam, a Kansas-born blue man who finds himself unable to adapt to the conditions of his hometown. Sam struggles to accept himself and deal with the loss but eventually finds solace in singing. On his way to self-discovery, he encounters a foreign society that does not conform to the normal social order. Their unwavering attitude encourages Sam to love himself and find his calling in life.
Starring Bridget Everett, Murray Hill, Mike Hagerty, and Jeff Hiller, among others, ‘Somebody Somewhere’ draws inspiration from Everett’s life. Located in Kansas, the backyard of a small Midwestern township adds a rustic charm to the story. Somebody Somewhere.
Where Was Somebody Somewhere Series Filmed?
‘Somebody Somewhere’ is recorded in various parts of Illinois, especially the Chicago areas of Lockport, Warrenville, and West Chicago. Recording sites are the ideal venues for Manhattan, Kansas, where the story is based on the beginning. Originally titled ‘Emporia,’ the experimental episode of the series was recorded in October 2019. However, further production was delayed due to the impact of Covid-19.
The recording of the first season resumed under the current title ‘Someone Someone’ in June 2021 and thereafter completed in July 2021. A few actors and a team in the first season have talent based in Chicago.
Illinois
‘Somebody Somewhere’ is primarily recorded in Lockport, a wonderful city in Will County, Illinois. Actors and crew filmed some scenes during the first season at Berkot’s Super Foods located at 500 Summit Drive # 1, as well as at Dellwood Park. Located on the east bank of the Des Plaines River, Lockport also has part of Illinois and the Michigan National Heritage Corridor.

Some of the city’s most famous landmarks are the Gaylord Building, the Lockport Gallery, the Gladys Fox Museum, and the Lincoln Landing. In addition, films such as ‘Public Enemies,’ ‘I used to Go Here,’ and ‘Poker House’ were filmed in Lockport.

The beautiful city of Warrenville is also one of the ‘Somebody Somewhere’ recording studios. Located in DuPage County, Warrenville is part of the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor. The town has well-organized neighborhoods and subdivisions such as Cantera, Edgebrook, Thornwilde, and Downtown Warrenville.

A few episodes of ‘Somebody Somewhere’ are also being filmed in West Chicago, an industrial city in DuPage County. The city has the famous Truitt-Hoff Nature Preserve and Kline Creek Farm, a museum farm dating back to the 1890s. The West Chicago Production District includes a large airport and hundreds of hectares of undeveloped office and industrial areas.

The hit TV series ‘Utopia’ and ‘Fargo’ were also filmed in the city. It is, therefore, not surprising that the original HBO production team chose the city as the shooting range.
