Encounter Movie Filming Locations
“Encounter” was filmed entirely in California, especially in the San Bernardino, Inno, and Mono counties. Major photography of the movie began in the second half of 2020 under the name ‘Invasion’ and continued until the beginning of December 2020.
A significant portion of ‘Encounter’ was filmed at Twenty Nine Palms in San Bernardino County. Filming took place in Joshua Tree National Park, famous for its desert landscapes. It consists of parts of the Mojave Desert and the Colorado Desert, with the Little San Bernardino Mountains on its southwest edge. The movie’s notable desert locations are mainly housed in national parks.
In all likelihood, the picture also shows the desert town of Trona in the Searles Valley in the Mojave Desert. In October 2021, director Michael Pierce spoke about the importance of desert spaces used in science-fiction drama.
He said the deserts in California meet the need for the raw and desolate landscape needed for the movie. Although the filmmaker originally planned to shoot the movie in Utah and New Mexico, the Covid-19 pandemic crew had to explore alternatives. It appears that Royce filmed some scenes around the motel and cafe on US Route 66 in the city of Ambay.
The town of Bishop in Inio County is another place where important scenes were filmed. The city is located near the northern part of the Valley of the Arid Owens. Opposite the magnificent mountain range, Bishop provides a breathtaking backdrop for filming.
We believe that the ghost town of Cerro Gordo is also covered with sci-fi thrillers. It is famous for its abandoned mines, old buildings, and barren landscapes. The city is privately owned and is one of the county’s major tourist attractions.
The town of Mammoth Lakes in Mono County serves as one of the filming locations. Some scenes were taken in the valley area of the town near the Mammoth mountain. The city is a major skiing destination and home to a huge ski museum.
Along with the Mammoth Mountains, the Sherwin Range also offers a spectacular visual attraction to the area. Apparently, some scenes at the Mono Lake Storm State Natural Reserve were lensed. National Park is located near Yosemite National Park and offers beautiful views of the lake. Encounter.
