Riverdale Season 6 Episode 4: Recap
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 4 begins with Jughead narrating, describing how Blossom women have been waking up for generations since Baileys approached the Comet River River 65 years later. Then we were introduced to the three Blossom Ladies – Cheryl from the year 2021, Poppy from the year 1957, and Abigail from the year 1892.
Cheryl prepares for a magical ritual to help Nana Rose move on to the afterlife as her students go outside to watch the comet. Later, Britta joins Cheryl as she reads stories from Abigail and Poppy to Nana Rose. In 1957, we see the hosting of a poppy salon for women in which they approached her with their family problems. Tabitha’s ancestor tells Tammy Poppy not to allow her husband to work at a pop diner. Poppy immediately gives her husband herbs that cause stomach pain and makes Tommy take food.
Meanwhile, in 1892, Tony’s ancestor, Thomasina Topaz, of Greendale, went to Thornhill to apply as a teacher at Abigail’s Thornhill Academy for Girls. Abigail hires him and asks if he is married; Thomas says no. Later, Abigail is upset when Thomasina tries to teach the girls about “obscene things from the men’s world” such as astronomy.
We go to the Poppies Salon and see how powerful the anti-Russian and anti-communist sentiment is in River well. When Poppy said he did not believe in witch-hunting, the women immediately became suspicious, referring to both the Salem Witch Trials and Joe McCarthy’s Red Scare.
