‘The Great’ is about Catherine the Great, Empress of All Russia. It follows her journey as she begins a plot to assassinate her estranged husband, Emperor Peter III, in order to save her country and her. The ‘great’ benefits not only from its fine plans but also from its exploration of European historical sites, castles, and grounds.
Although the exhibition mainly uses English and Italian palaces to depict the actual location of members of the Russian royal family, it clearly captures their love of splendor. In Season 2, the show continues to masterfully use beautiful landscapes, beautiful materials, vintage paintings, and magnificent costumes, all touched with gold, with a humorous exploration of the lives of Catherine, Peter, and their attendants.
‘The Great’ is likely to be shot in Belvoir, Leicestershire. The small town is known for its history of iron ore mining and Belvoir Castle. It was first built in 1066 and rebuilt several times during the centuries since Belvoir Castle was located in Grantham and serves as the backdrop for a few exhibition scenes.
