In Ordinary Joe Season 1 Episode 8, We learned why Amy had such skepticism about the police and humanity in general. His father had been arrested for a crime he had never committed. He tried to protect her and got her into trouble. In one case, the whole idea was why he wanted to do what was right, even though it meant intervening for Bobby. He hated it when rich, white people got a free world.
In addition, he had a desire to change things and make a difference by joining the Congress and expressing his views, as his mother had taught him since he was a child. Amy was forced to face the stress of preparing for a congressional funeral as Bobby’s wife was too upset to do so.
