‘There Will Be Blood’ shows that greed and ambition hold absolute power in our characters and can turn well-intentioned men into beasts in an instant.
The movie focuses on Daniel Plainview, a silver miner who aims to build an oil kingdom. He soon finds the success he is looking for, but greed and selfish ambition rob him of his desire for riches and gradually make him a completely wicked man.
The transformation of an ordinary businessman into a criminal who allows himself to be killed and to stand up for what is right is shocking and frightening. Setting up during the 19th and 20th centuries of the Oil Boom in Southern California, ‘There Will Be Blood’ paints a beautiful picture of rural California and the painfully constructed yet dangerous oil.
There is also a very good comment on how cultural lines often fade as people rush to make their fortune. If the amazing background and beautiful design are impressive, you might be wondering just where this movie was shot.
