For a long time, however, papaya drinking was a strong ‘no no’ for expectant mothers. Pregnant women are often warned about eating papaya by adults putting them at risk of miscarriage.

Adults often warn against eating papaya during pregnancy because of the risk of miscarriage. This effect is due to the enzymes found in latex – a white liquid in the lungs. These enzymes initiate the release of prostaglandin which can cause uterine contractions thus increasing the chances of miscarriage. However, do the experts support this myth or the myth?
