“The Voice Season 21 Episode 3.” After the first two episodes of the blinding episode of “The Voice” Season 21, Ariana Grande and John Legend took the lead early on in completing their teams. They both had five artists going on Monday’s third episode, compared to Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton who followed behind with only four artists each.
By the end of the blinds, all four coaches will have 12 players on their teams, producing a Top 48 that will compete head-to-head in battles. Are Kelly and Blake the playground on the night of September 27? And did Ariana end up using her block?
The Voice Season 21 Episode 3: Overview
Below, read our minute-by-minute summary of “The Voice Season 21 Episode 3 to find out what happened on Monday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET / PT. After that make sure you are heard in the comment section about your favorite artists on NBC’s long-running NBC program, the coach you can arrange for, and who you think will eventually join the “The Voice” winners list this season 21. Carson Daly hosts an Emmy-winning program.
8:00 pm – “Previously in ‘The Word’!” In the second episode, nine other artists entered the show due to their blind performances, with Lana Scott and Hailey Green joining Team Blake, Samuel Harness, Joshua Vacanti, Paris Winningham joining Team Legend, Carolina Alonso and Gymani joining Team Kelly, and Chavasha Allen and Jim & Team Ariana. Of these, only Gymani was the chairman of the four seats. How will he play the blind tonight?
8:10 pm – Opponent for the first time tonight is Raquel Trinidad, a 23-year-old from Miami who considers himself a free spirit. He is a glass singer but has been singing all his life next to his father who plays poetry. As a child, he had the opportunity to do voiceover work in “Dora the Explorer” and has been connected ever since. Tonight Raquel is singing “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder. John is the first artist to turn to a banned vocalist, yet he does a variety of things. Ariana follows the same pattern before Kelly joins the chance to win three seats. After thinking about it, Raquel decides to join Team Ariana, which is no surprise to anyone.
8:18 pm – Next up is Joy Reunion, a group of musicians and guitarists all involved in the music business. Their love of music has been rekindled since they met a decade ago. They think of their kind of “California Country,” which holds more pop. They’ve all been opening up to the actions of great artists, but they’re ready to take first place.
Tonight Joy Reunion sings “Boondocks” by Little Big Town. Their expertise is obvious and Blake quickly turns his seat back and is followed by John. Kelly and Ariana both live outside. Blake promises to take Joy Reunion to the final whistle and move on with her. Team Blake has its first artist of the night!
8:28 pm – 28-year-old Jasmine Mills hopes to inspire other mothers out there to pursue their dreams. She sings “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” Jasmine has an exciting tone and strong energy, but her voice is full of it everywhere. Unfortunately, no one turns to Jasmine.
8:40 pm – Looking for better luck is 13-year-old Hailey Mia who sings “You Broke Me First” She sounds young and modern, but I’m not blown away by her words. You have some of the most popular creative ideas for kids these days. Kelly turns her chair at the last minute, quickly following Ariana. Any of these trainers would be a good decision for Hailey, who could use a voice trainer to help polish her green voice. Hailey chooses to join Team Ariana and Kelly is still looking for her first artist of the night.
8:53 pm – Jeremy Rosado is 29 years old from Tampa who raises his niece, Jocelyn, as his daughter. Jeremy’s career in music became increasingly expensive when he became Jocelyn’s legal guardian when he was just 22 years old. Now that her niece has successfully enrolled in college, Jeremy is pursuing her dream of singing “Here Comes Goodbye.”
He puts his breath into this national anthem by Rascal Flatts. I think it sounds good, but the coaches seem to be very resistant to turning. Finally, Kelly hits her button and Blake follows her. They fight for a while, but Ariana lets Kelly and Jeremy decide to join Kelly’s list!
9:05 p.m. – Next up is Carson Peters, better known as “Fiddle Boy,” from Tennessee. He is only 17 years old but has previously played Grand Ole Opry. He grew up known for his beatings, but now he is happy to let the world hear his voice. Carson sings “Tulsa’s Time” and looks happy when John is the first coach to convert. Blake also follows Ariana and Kelly. We got a chance for four seats! John, Kelly, and Blake all fought hard, but Carson chose Blake as his coach. For a moment I thought he could scare them all and go with Ariana.
9:22 pm – The next singer hides in the dark until Kelly turns her seat and reveals that the singer is Keilah Grace who sings “Never Tear Us Apart.” John and Ariana also repent before learning that Keilah is only 15 years old. The coaches loved his strength and seemed to value his words more than I did. The teenager has trouble deciding but eventually chooses Team Legend in the hope that he will have an open channel of voice similar to his own.
9:26 pm – Next is Bubba, 26, from New York. “The Voice” will give the hairdresser the opportunity to grow into an artist. Bubba does not want to do hair all his life and hopes to sing fully. She sings “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.” Unfortunately, it sounds like the wrong key and I’m not sure if you hit one note correctly. It was pretty cruel. No coach turns around.
9:38 pm – 32-year-old Samara Brown from the Bronx and season 3 sister Amanda Brown. Amanda was beautiful! Samara says music is in family buildings, but growing up she was not allowed to listen to anything other than Christian music.
When he got to college he was able to perform as part of a jazz trio in Russia. Since then he has worked all over the world but changing the chair can be a great time for his career. Samara sings “Sweet Thing” and is quickly noticed by John and Ariana. Looks like Kelly and Blake are going to let the two of them fight. Samara has decided to join Team Legend despite Kelly campaigning for Ariana.
9:47 pm – Lucas O’Reilly is a 20-year-old guitarist who recently rose to prominence as a musician. If he gets a chance to be on the team it can be a guarantee that you made the right decision. Singing “Carolina In My Mind” by James Taylor, Lucas fails to get the assurance he was looking for. You really have a really good voice, it wasn’t strong enough for the coaches during this testing process.
9:59 pm – The last night singer is Holly Forbes, 30, from Kentucky. Her daily job is to be a caregiver for people with disabilities or mental disabilities. Holly has had seizures since she was 11 and her medication caused her hair to fall out. To this day she still weeps. Music always raises his confidence and he will be singing Elton John’s “Rocket Man” for his visibility interview.
In a few notes, Kelly, Ariana, and John all turn around. Ariana blocked John, much to his delight, but I don’t know if he figured he’d still have to fight to get Holly on his team. Blake joined the group to give Holly a second chance for four seats tonight. After everyone fought it, we never found out who Holly had chosen.
