Wind River is the mystery of the 2017 West noir murder that follows an FBI agent and a local tracker as they rally to unlock a brutal murder. Arranged in the middle of a bright, snowy background, the film is as powerful as the ones that reflect and show the invisible side of the world. The scenery also adds a lot to the mysterious nature of their film, and the natural beauty described by the crime in the middle. Are you curious about where the ‘Wind River’ was recorded?
Wind River Movie Filming Locations
The Wind River film is set in Wyoming, and the filming takes place in the state and neighboring Utah. The background of the film is so important that the scene is described by the film’s author and director, Taylor Sheridan, as the protagonist himself. The recording took place on March 12, 2016, until April 25, 2016, and crews appeared to have trouble recording some of the snow near the end of the schedule by the arrival of spring, forcing them to go to higher and higher altitudes.
Summit County, Utah Location
The Wind River film was heavily filmed in Summit County, Utah, where several mountain scenes were shot. Production has been used by Park City Studios and Utah Film Studios, located at 4001 Kearns Boulevard, Park City, as their base, although photography was primarily done outside in the natural environment to give the film its wild and mountainous background. Summit County Court House, located at 60 North Main Street in Coalville, was used as a stand to display the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
The Wasatch Back region, which includes many Utah counties, including Summit County and east of the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, was widely used to shoot many film scenes in the film.
Other Places in Utah Location
Wasatch County, which forms part of the Wasatch Back region, was also widely used to record outdoor mountain scenes.
The Wind River movie scene, set in Gannett Peak, actually used Hidden Peak as a recording studio. At 10,971 meters above sea level, Hidden Peak is one of the highest peaks in the region and is located in the Snowbird community in Salt Lake County, Utah.
Fremont County, Wyoming Location
Wyoming’s main background for the film was brought to Fremont County. The landmark of the Lander city limits seen earlier in the film was filmed in the city of Lander.
The film’s nameake, the Native American Reservation stretching more than 3,000 square miles in many regions, including Fremont and Hot Springs, was also used for filming, although Utah areas were widely used as reservations. The scene showing the booking sign was filmed at the actual setting, in Wyoming. Other firearms also appeared to have been shot in the Wind River Indian Reservation.
