Chappie Movie Filming Locations
‘Chappie’ was filmed in and around South Africa, with a production facility in Johannesburg, and the regeneration of shoots in Canada. The recording of the work began at the end of October 2013 and ended in February of the following year. The director also found some scenes during the re-launch in April 2014. Now let’s take you to some places where the film was shot!
Johannesburg, South Africa Location
Most of the movie was filmed in various parts of Johannesburg and suburbs, the capital of Gauteng and the largest city in the country. The director is a South African nationalist and has chosen to record many sequences from what he moved to his home in Johannesburg. The staff took great pictures of the region, visiting some of the highlights of the process. Empty tower scenes were filmed at the Ponte City Tower, a high-rise apartment building on the Berea site in the Hillbrow area of the city.
In another scene, you can point to two future cooling towers fitted with graffiti. The scenes were filmed near the Orlando Power Station, a thriving coal-fired power station in Soweto township in the Johannesburg municipality.
Scenes were also set up at the Nelson Mandela Bridge, a railway bridge on Smith Street in the city. The busy flyover connects two of the busiest business districts in the city, namely, Braamfontein and Newtown.
A follow-up session was held at the Denel Kempton Park Campus, a university located at 47 Friedman Street, Kempton Park on the outskirts of the city. The scene has doubled in the film as Tetravaal Labs, and many internal lab series have been recorded here. Additional recordings were made in Hillbrow and Soweto in Johannesburg.
Vancouver, Canada Location
The recording in Johannesburg was wrapped up in February 2014, but the manager seemed unhappy with some of the scenes. While choosing to restart the sequence, the production team moved out to British Columbia. They recorded the sequence in Vancouver, a traditionally rich port city in the Canadian province of British Columbia.
Vancouver has established itself as an important hub for film and television productions in the 21st century and as a result, has been revitalized as “Northern Hollywood.” Thanks to easy filming and the availability of skilled professionals, filmmakers from all over the world flock to this city every year.
