‘Blade Runner is a science fiction movie that requires no introduction for fans of that genre. The story underscores the importance of the sci-fi dichotomy between man and machine. Blade Runner Filming Movie Locations
‘Blade Runner’ was recorded in many places in the US and UK. The filming of the movie began on March 9, 1981, and production ended on October 12 of that same year. Now let’s take you to some places where the movie was shot!
Los Angeles, California Location
Most of the Blade Runner (News) movie is also shot in the vicinity of Angel City, in southern California. The story is set in Los Angeles in 2019, and the director has taken his cast and crew to record the majority of the outside sequence in the city. Sebastian’s home is the Bradbury Building, which is located at 304 South Broadway in downtown Los Angeles.
Ennis House, a residential building located at 2607 Glendower Avenue in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, has doubled as a place in Rick Deckard’s apartment in the movies. Built by Frank Lloyd Wright, this house marks the construction of the Mayan Revival.
The filming of the Blade Runner movie also took place at 2nd Street Tunnel, one of the most filmed tunnels on 620 West 2nd Street just below Bunker Hill in downtown LA. It connects South Figueroa Street to the northwest and North Hill Street to the Southeast End.
Staff also recorded several scenes at the Million Dollar Theater, a movie theater located at 307 South Broadway, and in downtown LA.
In one sequence, Deckard reports to the police station and is ordered to return to work. The sequence was recorded at Union Station, a downtown railway station, located at 800 North Alameda Street. The building showcases the art of architecture of Art Deco and as a result, served as a beautiful exterior building for the future police station.
The Pan American Loft Community, the historic 253 South Broadway apartment building in downtown LA has doubled as the Yukon Hotel in the movie. Both internal and external sequences set up at the hotel were recorded at this location.
The Blade Runner movie was also filmed at Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites, a four-star hotel located at 404 South Figueroa Street in the city. A scene showing captions of circular towers was shot outside the area.
Burbank, California Location
The cast and crew recorded most of the internal series at Warner Brothers Burbank Studios, which is the most productive movie venue located at 4000 Warner Boulevard in the Burbank area of California. Staff recorded several scenes in Stage 4, Stage 24, and Stage 25 in the studio, as well as in the back of the studio. Future street scenes shown in early times were filmed on dignified New York Street in the same studio station.
England, the UK Location
Additionally, some sequences were recorded in parts of England and suburbs. The production team recorded some of the scenes in the controlled area of Shepperton Studios, an old movie theater located on Studio Road in the village of Shepperton in the Surrey region. A few scenes were also filmed in the city of London. Scenes of Leon’s bathroom were actually filmed in London, the capital of England.
