“Candyman 2.” ‘Candyman’ is a slasher horror film directed by Nia DaCosta acting as a starter/sequel to a 1992 film with the same name. It tells the story of Anthony McCoy, a struggling musician who is obsessed with the myth of “The Candyman” and doesn’t know he’s sharing a personal contact with the killer. The film is based on Clive Barker’s short story ‘Forbidden’ and brings the ancient boogeyman religion to the fore. Candyman 2: Release Date
‘Candyman‘ was first released from theaters on August 27, 2021, by Universal Pictures. It was originally scheduled for June 12, 2020, but has been postponed several times due to the effects of Covid-19. The film has received excellent reviews, with critics praising its timely themes and a new approach to franchise legends.
The producers or the studio are yet to release official ideas about the next film. However, recognizing that the new movie is the fourth installment in the wider franchise and acts as a re-launch, the new installment may be on the cards. ‘Candyman 2’ stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (‘The Guardians’) as Anthony McCoy, a handsome artist devoured by Candyman’s legend. Teyonah Parris as ‘WandaVision’ plays the role of Brianna Cartwright, Anthony’s girlfriend who works in the arts. Colman Domingo as ‘Zola, portrays William Burke, a resident of Cabrini Green who has extensive knowledge of Candyman’s myth. Vanessa Estelle Williams and Tony Todd have also played their role since 1992 as Anne-Marie McCoy and Daniel Robitaille / Candyman.
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Kyle Kaminsky also appeared in supporting roles such as Troy Cartwright and Grady Greenberg. Members of the main characters are likely to re-play their role in a possible sequence, while supporting members may return with them depending on the plot. We also saw a few new faces and some old franchise characters re-enacting their role in ‘Candyman 2.’
Candyman 2: Plot
In ‘Candyman,’ Anthony McCoy explores Candyman’s legend to find inspiration but ends up discovering his shocking history. Anthony was arrested for murder by a false Burke and killed by police. However, she returns as Candyman to protect Brianna from the corrupt cops and kill them. The movie ends as Anthony asks Brianna to spread Candyman’s myth so that people can call him to protect them.
Given the discriminatory concept of the concept, ‘Candyman 2’ can provide makers with specific opportunities to tell stories.
