The Sistas show was shot mostly in July, at the peak of the Covid-19 disease but with strict vigilance. It is one of the first projects to be recorded after the global production ban. Both seasons 1 and 2 were heavily shot at Tyler Perry Studios in Georgia. Here are some recording details!
Tyler Perry Studios, Georgia Location
The Sistas film production studio is located directly at 315 Deshler St SW, Atlanta, GA 30310, United States. As the show was filmed at the top of the epidemic, the actors were transported from New York and Los Angeles on Perry’s private plane. The cast and crew were all tested for Covid-19 and are required to occupy a 330-hectare studio site at the time of the shooting. The property was a military base at Fort McPherson during the civil war and was referred to as a “Camp Quarantine” joke during the Sistas recording. ‘
Perry used the solitary confinement blankets of the actors, which are also used with sports actors. The team was tested several times after their arrival – every four days, to determine. The start of the shooting was slightly delayed as the team waited for their test reports. However, it all worked out because Perry usually shoots the season in about two and a half weeks. The recording is done in a timely manner, each episode being shot in a day or less.
In an interview with Variety, Perry shared that some of the concerns that came with the shooting in the middle of the epidemic were a small number of people being set up, especially more. The same people had to be changed, and the camera work had to be done properly so that their faces could not be seen to avoid being seen. In the worst-case scenario, workers had to jump and participate in the squares. Here is a video behind the scenes of the recording process from K.J. Smith’s Instagram account.
