Annette Movie Filming Locations
The recording of ‘Annette‘ was expected to begin in 2017 but was delayed several times over the next few years. The main filming last began on August 16, 2019, and was completed on November 19, 2019. The movie was filmed in various cities in the United States, Belgium, and Germany. Some parts were shot in Wales, United Kingdom. Let’s take a closer look at some movie theaters.
The filming took place in Bruges, a town in the West Flanders province. Actors and staff recording some of the scenes at Concertgebouw (concert building) located at ‘t Zand 34, 8000 Bruges. The site is a popular tourist destination and a cultural destination in the city.
Los Angeles, California
The movie was filmed a bit in downtown Los Angeles. The big city is the focal point of the Hollywood entertainment industry and is known for its diversity of culture and architecture. An important sequence was recorded near the Walt Disney Concert Hall located at 111 South Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles.
Some scenes were filmed on the city streets. The opening series was shot at The Village, a recording studio at 1616 Butler Avenue, and 11500 Santa Monica Boulevard. An external shot at The Orpheum Theater located at 842 South Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles from the movie. Popular movies such as ‘Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood,’ and ‘Tenet’ are recorded in the city.
A scene depicting Annette’s performance on the first stage was shot at The Opéra Royal de Wallonie (or Opéra Royal), an opera house located at People de l’Opéra in the city of Liège. It is one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Internal scenes of the Ape of God program in the movie were filmed at Le Forum, an art gallery in Rue Pont d’Avroy.
Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium
Actors and movie crews visited the city of Brussels and Saint-Josse-ten-Noodle, a municipality in the Brussels-Capital region, to shoot the movie. A series of Opera nightmares starring Marion Cotillard’s character was recorded in the Brussels jungle. While recording in the Brussels-Capital region, director Leos Carax’s beloved dog, Javelot, disappeared but was later found at the train station thanks to the efforts of actors, staff, and fans. A few scenes were reportedly shot at the famous KVS Studios in Brussels.
North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
An important part of the Annette movie was filmed in various parts of the German province of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). Some internal series have been shot at MMC Studios, a movie and television studio in Cologne. The headquarters of the LVM Versicherung at Kolde-Ring 21 in Münster serves as the outdoor location for the movie LAPD seen in the movie.
The art department created a set at The Kunstmuseum Bonn, an art museum in Bonn, to record some scenes. Actors and staff shot some photos in Eifel National Park and Dusseldorf, the capital of the NRW.
