Home Before Dark Season 2: Overview
For the Home Before Dark Season 2, Hilde begins to realize the strange health problems that many of the city’s inhabitants suffer. He soon links it with the deaths of birds and locust swarms that have occurred in some pockets of the city and realizes that Strata Tech, a large company, and a longtime contributor to the city, has also been poisoning its residents for decades.
In an attempt to find out their crime, a young journalist goes into their bad history of paying employees to keep quiet. His grandfather’s death furthers his efforts, and soon he finds out that the company was dumping a toxic chemical called Cadmium on a nearby island that had been flooding the city.
At the end of Home Before Dark Season 2, during a hunt for eyewitnesses to prove Strata Tech’s wrongdoing in court, Hilde and her father Matt found Richie Fife, who was mysteriously abducted decades ago. Richie seems to know all about the company’s shortcomings but fears the authorities will arrest him and disappear soon. Matt and Hilde tried to find a tape recorder that could hold the shocking evidence they needed but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Bridget and Izzy are working on a lawsuit against Strata Tech and are trying to find out if the company has harmed them by attending a town hall meeting. However, it seems to be a challenge to convince people because most of them work for powerful companies and are afraid of losing their jobs and investment in the community. (Home Before Dark) The number of people leaving the town hall is small, but Grant, the head of Strata Tech, is present with his lawyer and assistant.
Home Before Dark Season 2: What Happened to Richie Fife?
As Hilde begins to talk about all the people Strata Tech has hurt, her manager stands up and calls her claims baseless. He says their case has no evidence and therefore will not stand. Just as Hilde feels that she has lost all hope, Sam Gillis enters the meeting with Richie, claiming that they have proof of company. Richie continues to play sound recordings for the company and its current head. Grant made the final threat to Matt, which was recorded and broadcast by Izzy. A commotion was heard outside, and it was revealed that Ethan had stopped the project and was showing what was happening throughout the city to watch.
Citizens’ joy as Grant is imprisoned by Sherriff Trip, and his father, Junior Johnson, also acquires his family’s farm. Then we saw Richie reunite after decades with his old friends Matt, Frank Junior, and Kim at a picnic at the beach, where everyone gathered to celebrate their victory. Later, Donny and Spoon appeared to be working with a police cameraman, where they heard the announcement of the murder. Together with Hilde, they run to the site, and the season closes with Hilde seeing her diary lying on the floor, marked as a piece of evidence at the crime scene.
The end of Home Before Dark season 2 not only exposes the violence of Strata Tech and its executives but also solves the mystery of season-long Richie Fife’s abduction. He is thought to have been kidnapped and held against his will all the time, at the end of the season, it turns out that he was actually living with his biological father Arthur Conway all these years.
The Home Before Dark series of events began when Richie inadvertently heard top Strata Tech officials talk about their illegal use of toxic substances while hiding inside one of their planes. This put him in danger and his father, Arthur, carried out his kidnapping to remove Richie from Erie Harbor. In the midst of the confusion, Richie ended up killing his captor and then spent his years living in Canada, where he got married and had a child.
Richie revealed that the threat of legal consequences over the years had kept him away from Erie Harbor. However, after seeing Hilde’s report of her case and realizing that there are still people out there who care about her and don’t stop looking, she returns to help with the case. His contribution is invaluable as Richie ends up playing a tape-recorded by his father Arthur, pressuring the company and its current manager, Grant.
The fact that we see Richie in a picnic spending time with his old friends tells us (Home Before Dark) that he may not face legal consequences for the murder he committed as it is understood he did it in self-defense. Given the subtle nature of Strata Tech, it seems that all crime has been properly imposed on the company and its management.
