Directed by Robin Bissell from the fictional novel ‘The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South by Osha Gray Davidson, the political drama ‘The Best of Enemies’ is a compelling and moving story that society meets in difficult times.
Originally from the 1970s Durham, the film chronicles the history of the unexpected (or hostile) division between human rights activist Ann Atwater and KKK leader C.P Ellis. When a local school is set on fire, social violence ensues, and racial tension escalates. “The Best of Enemies.”

The Best of Enemies Movie Filming Locations
‘The Best of Enemies’ was recorded throughout the US, especially in the state of Georgia. The recording started on May 22, 2017, and wrapped up a few months later. The story of the film comes from Durham in the 1970s. However, the director and his inspection team did not find a suitable location in Durham for recording, so they chose to record at a production facility that is easily accessible in Georgia.
Known as “Southern Hollywood,” Georgia proves to be a fertile area for many films and TV production. Aside from the beautiful rural landscapes, beautiful buildings, and the rich museum, a comprehensive credit system funded by the provincial government to facilitate photography in the province is the reason why more directors have chosen the southeastern country as a news destination. Although the recording team is slow in the province, the Georgian capital may have served as a production facility. A large chunk of the film was taken with Atlanta as the background.
The recording was done in the southern part of the city, and in East Atlanta, where they found several suitable homes for some time. Some of the scenes were filmed near downtown College Park, a stone’s throw from Atlanta International Airport.
Almost the entire film was shot in Georgia and suburbs, doubling as North Carolina in the movie. During their visit, the production team visited the small Georgian town of Macon, a city known for its cultural diversity and historical significance.
A series of protests were recorded at the historic Macon City Hall. Officially known as the Macon-Bibb County Government Center, the administrative building is located at 700 Poplar Street in downtown Macon, across from the Macon City Auditorium
An important film sequence was shot in Cartersville, a town in Bartow County of Georgia. A few of the series were recorded at Ross’s Diner, a small restaurant located at 17 North Wall Street in Cartersville.
Some of the scenes were filmed in the red historic Bartow Country Courthouse. Located at 135 West Cherokee Avenue in the city, this beautiful building showcases Neoclassical construction.
