The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Episode 6 Recap
In an episode called ‘Vows,’ Moira tries hard to convince June to bring her back to Canada, albeit at great risk, given that the move could break a government agreement between the two nations. About June, she is worried about not finding Janine. Her conversation with Moira opens up deep wounds as she talks about Hannah’s condition and how moving to Canada can mean leaving her first daughter behind.
Moira insists that it is very important to be alive and help away if that is all one can do rather than risk everything by going back to Gilead and ending up dead. Aside from the fact that June feels guilty for leaving Janine and Hannah behind, she also knows that she is putting many people at risk by being on a ship. However, her biggest concern is what Luke will do when he learns that Hannah is not with him. In a flashback sequence, we can see that Moira does not trust Luke because she left Annie when she could not get pregnant and started a relationship with June.
For now, however, Luke is a very different person who was dishonest in June. So, Moira tries to reassure June that she would be happy to see him no matter what because he had been waiting for her for so long. Moira is right; when June finally sees Luke face to face, she is broken and very sorry for not being able to save Hannah, but she cries and just kisses him.
