Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel (2021) Review

I knew a little about the ELISA lamb case but nothing about the Cecil hotel where she went missing the new Netflix true-crime documentry-series crime scene the vanishing at the Cecil hotel dives into the mystery of how the young woman disappeared.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel

So if you’re a fan of true crime will this satisfy[Applause]in 2013 college student Elisa lam was staying at the Cecil when she vanished igniting a media frenzy and mobilizing a global community of internet sleuth Seager to solve the case

This documentary did know a little bit about the ELISA lamb case I knew that she had disappeared and that later investigators had found her and that there was a lot of mystery and suspicion surrounding

The circumstances of her (The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel) death but apart from that I wasn’t aware of all the details or the nuances that went into the case the first two episodes introduce us to Elisa by means of her online posts

We get a small glimpse into her mindset and her motivations she’s a Canadian resident looking for a bit of adventure so she comes to California and ends up in Los Angeles

So a side note for any of you that don’t live in California take it from somebody who’s lived here their entire life l.a not as glamorous as it’s made out to be a lot of it is dingy and sketchy and now there are some really nice parts but mainly if you’re going to visit so cal hit up the beaches hit up Disneyland and then go to San Diego in

In the first two episodes we also get a decent insight into the Cecil hotel itself there’s some of its history as well as what it became when Elisa was visiting there

There’s a huge change we have interviews with the hotel’s general manager at the time maintenance workers even tourists who were staying there and residents who semi lived there and of course because this is a true-crime documentary. The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel

The investigation progressed there is some really good intrigue built into the story the documentary is telling for us especially for somebody who’s not too familiar with all the details

crime

The hotel when Elisa went missing and it looks unsettling weird and mysterious the police released the footage in an effort to maybe get some help from the public maybe somebody saw something that could help in the investigation

Finally, Elisa is discovered which then (The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel) creates even more intrigue and more suspicion and then we get to episode three of the documentary episode three pissed me off this episode is filled with interviews from web sleuths

Who they just speculate on (Malcolm And Marie 2021 Netflix Movie Review) everything I mean they are reaching so hard for anything and it’s just utterly ridiculous they complain that the autopsy has been completed and they don’t have access to it

This dude is a death metal singer and they failed a fathom that could all be just a persona and a gimmick and what they do to that dude is totally unacceptable there was just so much speculation in that third episode. The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel

That it felt to be a massive waste of time it takes away from the legitimate investigation and was played up way too much for the drama then episode 4 spends time again recounting what has already been told to us now

That’s relayed in episode four which really helps to provide resolution to what we’ve been watching when the autopsy findings are released

There’s one dude again a web sleuth who says he disagrees with the report because he has spent hours and hours investigating this I’m so glad the fate of everything doesn’t rest in this armchair detective’s hands the hubris and gall of this dude is just sickeningly funny, The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel
